From "The Old Curiosity Shop" by Dickens, Charles

Daniel Quilp
The grotesque and malevolent antagonist.
Core Belief
"Power and wealth are the only things that matter, and anyone weaker than him is deserving of ridicule and abuse."
Worldview
Quilp sees the world as a playground for his twisted desires, where he can exploit and control others for his own amusement and gain. He is contemptuous of morality and human decency, viewing them as weaknesses to be exploited.
Personality
Quilp is a physically deformed and morally depraved individual. He derives pleasure from tormenting others, exhibiting cruelty, cunning, and a complete lack of empathy. His motivations are rooted in avarice, jealousy, and a desire for control.
In Their Own Words
"‘I’ll beat you to a pulp, you dogs,’ said Quilp, vainly endeavoring to get near either of them for a parting blow. ‘I’ll bruise you until you’re copper-coloured, I’ll break your faces till you haven’t a profile between you, I will.’"
"‘If ever you listen to these beldames again, I’ll bite you.’"
"‘Thank God I acknowledge none! Nor need you either,’ he added, turning to the old man, ‘if you were not as weak as a reed, and nearly as senseless.’"
