Back to My Father's Dragon
Portrait of The Gorilla

The Gorilla

A fierce gorilla who oversees the dragon and mistreats him.

From "My Father's Dragon" by Gannett, Ruth Stiles

Core Belief

"Power and control are the most important things, and it's necessary to maintain order through fear and intimidation."

Worldview

The Gorilla sees the world as a hierarchy where he is at the top. He believes that others should obey him without question and that he is entitled to special treatment.

Personality

The Gorilla is initially portrayed as a domineering and somewhat dim-witted authority figure. He is easily distracted by his own vanity and discomfort, allowing Elmer to outsmart him.

In Their Own Words

"Well?"
"Well, explain yourself. I'll give you till ten to tell me your name, business, your age and what's in that pack"
"Blast those fleas! They won't give you a moment's peace, and the worst of it is that you can't even get a good look at them. Rosie! Rhoda! Rachel! Ruthie! Ruby! Roberta! Come here and get rid of this flea on my chest. It's driving me crazy!"
