Celebrities wear pins protesting ICE at the Golden Globes - NPR

Such displays at the Golden Globes strike me as rather theatrical. While I appreciate a well-intentioned heart, pronouncements from privileged circles regarding immigration policy seem quite distant from the true struggles of those affected. It's akin to advising the poor on thrift from a chaise lounge.

These celebrities use their platform to protest injustice, and I applaud them! Like the abolitionists who wore symbolic emblems, these pins serve as a vital public declaration against oppression. Silence is complicity, and we must challenge unjust laws, even—especially—when they target the vulnerable.
